One day trek to ‘Fort Harihar’ on 30th June 2013
Dear All,
We at ‘Nisarg Trust’ invite
you for a thrilling one day trek to fort Harihar on 30th June 2013
leaving 29th night.
Minutiae:
Height: 3676ft (MSL)
Grade: Medium
Time: 2:30 hrs from base
Location: Tryambakeshwar range.
Harihar is a triangular massif
with sheer vertical walls from all the sides. After ascending a hill, we come across
a huge staircase. It’s the most fascinating aspect of this trek. Complete route
till the top is superbly carved in a single rock. After ascending the
staircase, we enter the fort through first entrance door. A Ganesh idol is
carved there in a rock. Climbing another few such steps take you to the top via
another entrance door. All those rock cut steps have a gradient of around 70
degrees. Total 117 steps are provided with the grooves for proper grip.
Ascending and descending this part is a thrilling experience.
After entering the fort, we
reach a plateau which holds a lake, besides that a Hanuman idol is placed. On
the other side there is another temple without any idol. There are several
water tanks on the way. Top offers another 10 mins of climb. From the top you
see a breath-taking panoramic view of the surrounding region. You can observe
Anjaneri, Basgad, Fani, Utwad, Bramha, Vaitarna dam etc.
